Magaline Rochette took the Panamerican Title

Continental Championships

It was a busy weekend in Canada and Holland for athletes of all ages as the continental championships took place. Masters Championships were generally run on Friday and Saturday with the juniors through to elites on Sunday.

Kicking off Sunday’s event in Europe, the junior men took to one of the fastest courses so far this season. Despite the speed, the race was packed with challenging technical elements from twisty woodland trails to sandpits and flyovers. Thibau Nys gave Belgium a bronze medal in the junior race as a first year rider. The Dutch win was going to become somewhat of a theme for the weekend’s events, with their riders rising to the occasion in front of the huge home crowd.

In the U23 men, the much-anticipated battle between Tom Pidcock and Eli Iserbyt came to fruition with Tom taking the spoils ahead of Eli in the silver medal position.

There was a Dutch podium lock out in the U23 and Elite women’s races, but great performance from Ellen van Loy and Helen Wyman to secure top 10 results.

In Canada, another keenly anticipated battle of two rising stars took place in the Women’s elite race between Ellen Noble and Maghalie Rochette. Maghalie, a former u23 winner took the win in a tight battle with Ellen taking the silver.

In the U23 race, Team S&M star Clara Honsinger took the gold back to the USA.
